Why Monitor Air valves?
The UK has a network of around 170,000 air valves, vital to maintaining the pressure within the potable water network. Whilst an essential part of a functional network, a faulty valve can become a weak point for potentially harmful bacteria to access the water supply.
This can pose a real and serious risk to the public who take their drinking water from the supply beyond the faulty air valve. Origin SAVI™ monitors multiple risk factors to the network and provide real time data to water companies enabling them to prioritise inspection and maintenance schedules.
How it works
Origin SAVI™ is an advanced satellite based remote sensing and machine learning platform. The program takes data from multiple feeds, including topographical data, water network pressure, land classification, rainfall data, soil moisture and create a risk profile for each valve, classifying them into 2 categories: High risk and may require modification or replacement, or low risk where normal operating schedules apply. This pioneering technology allows water networks to monitor their airvalves in near real time. Minimising risk to water quality and public health.
